Adidas was founded in 1948 by Adold 'Adi' Dassler, Rudolf Dassler's brother, the founder of PUMA. Adolf Dassler started to produce his first athletic shoes at the end of Worl War I, helped by his father Christoph and his brothers Zehlein and Rudolf. The company got an immediate success and gained the international prominence during the Olimpic Games, in 1936, equipping Jesse Owens. When Adi is dead, the company has been driven by his wife Kathe, his son Horst, and Horst's daughters. During the decade of the 90s Adidas entered in stock market and acquired the Salomon Group and the new brand assumed the name of Adidas-Salomon AG. In 2006 the group also acquired the Reebok brand. Adidas was also supplier of balloons in two Fifa World Cup and in a one Fifa Futsal World Championship. In November 2011 Adidas bought the company of the climbing and mountain biking shoes FIVE TEN.
